Bingham is an English market town in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, 9 miles east of Nottingham. Bingham Heritage Trails Association have studied the history of their parish in great depth and provided parish data for the boundary project.
Bingham, East Bridgford, Shelford and Car Colston are all separated from each other by Roman roads, which may give a clue about the origin of the parishes as possible Roman estates.
The NW boundary of the parish is the Fosse Way. Other parishes seem to radiate from Bingham perhaps reflecting the importance of the place as the HQ for the Bingham wapentake.
